Creator Bio - Brian Coates

Hi — I’m the artist behind 2 Society Studios. I am a bit of a mix bag as an artist. I constantly bounce back and forth between my love of comics and my love for Oil Painting, yet somehow I've never successfully crossed the two. As I painter, I focus on color and expressive brushstrokes to bring out the color and energy of life as I see it. My influences are Van Gogh, Millet, Delacroix, Monet, Hiroshige, Hokusai, and Daumier. As a comic artist, I try to create dynamic poses and energy focusing on expressive gesture and line work. When not drawing or painting, I’m practicing my Photoshop coloring or building better browsing experiences for my artwork on this site.
